Our story

Barnaby’s always pleased to see you.

He’ll keep you company from the first sip of coffee to the last ray of sunlight.

We make clothes for days like that. They’re easy to wear and look right wherever you end up.

No dress code. No guest list. Any friend of Barnaby’s is a friend of ours.

The name

Named after the longest day of the year.

Barnaby Bright is the old English name for St Barnabas’ Day, 11 June. Under the old calendar it fell on the longest day of the year, and the folk rhyme still goes: “Barnaby bright, Barnaby bright, the longest day and the shortest night.” We kept the name, spelt it Bryght, and borrowed the feeling: long light, good company and nobody in a hurry to leave.

The Labrador

Look closely at the ear.

Our Labrador wears his heart where his ear should be. You’ll find it on every piece we make, along with a sun hidden somewhere in each Longest Day design. He’s the friend everyone wants on the walk: first to say hello, last to leave.

Easy to wear. Made to last.

Modern cuts

Relaxed, boxy shapes in heavyweight fabrics, made for layering through winter and wearing straight through summer.

A heritage heart

A classic serif, an archival palette and a Labrador who has seen a few long days. Heritage in the details, never fancy dress.

Made to order

Each piece is printed when you order it, so we make what people want and nothing more.

No dress code. No guest list.
